MOOD DRIVEN MANAGEMENT

As our understanding of personality and its role in management style has increased, so has our expectation of individuals to be actively aware of mood and its role in influencing organisational effectiveness. Life in Leadership has developed specific programs that addresses mood driven management and provides leaders with tools to deal with narcissistic behaviours in the work place.

Working with individuals, teams, or organisations, Life in Leadership speaks directly to the behaviours of mood-driven individuals, who, while often being recognised as visionary and charismatic, are also typically considered poor listeners, hypersensitive to critical feedback and unwilling or unable to be mentored. The program explores narcissistic behaviours with a view to understanding and identifying management and coaching strategies to minimise negative potentials while optimising the considerable strengths inherent within these behaviours.

The benefits of this work flow through all levels of an organisastion:

• Individuals learn how to balance challenging feedback with empathetic support, how to build understanding without colluding, and ways to maintain a healthy self esteem in the face of challenging mood driven management.

• Team benefits include a restoration of productivity and diversity where narcissistic leadership has stymied creative process. A restoration of fairness and direction in the face of irrational decision making also flows from addressing mood driven management.

• Intervention at an organisational level includes introducing policies to manage the destructive effects of mood driven management, exploration of coaching possibilities for those most affected, and the harnessing of the benefits such leaders bring to organisations.
