SUE WEBB
Sue is a highly qualified training and professional development consultant who uses her deep knowledge of human behaviour to help her clients understand themselves and their contexts and to challenge them to stretch beyond their perceived limits. With nearly 30-years of experience lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the counselling field at Massey University, including postgraduate professional preparation, Sue has combined her academic life with practical applications in business, education and community settings. She is an accredited Analyst for the LEAP leadership intensive program.
Sue works at an individual, group and organisational level, reviewing existing systems and creating programmes that develop human capital and facilitate workplace interpersonal relationships. She functions flexibly across different work environments focusing her attention on helping individuals grow through support and challenge. Sue facilitates conflict resolution, self-awareness groups, organisational retreats and process reviews, as well as engaging in a range of team-building activities.
By skillfully drawing on a variety of facilitation tools, Sue partners with her clients to guide them through developing their personal and interpersonal awareness and communication skills. She has worked with sports teams, general practitioners, education professionals and Boards of Trustees, and provides mentoring for school principals and academic managers. Sue has also advised counselling organisations overseas, particularly in the Pacific region.
Sue earned her Masters of Philosophy (Distinction) from Massey University following a Bachelor of Education in Advanced Studies (Counselling) at Exeter University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in French from Bristol University, along with a Post-graduate Certificate of Education.
Sue’s research and writing interests include women’s issues, ethics, assistance to third-world organisations and traumatic incident interventions. She is actively involved in the New Zealand Association of Counsellors, being a member since 1978, and has participated in organising a number of conferences for the Association. Sue served as National President from 1997 to 2000 and has been on the Association’s Ethics Committee since 2001. She has been active in international counselling contexts over a number of years and is presently Secretary on the Executive Council of the International Association for Counselling.
